i have a !! green to the extreme !! friend in the vilage and she asked me to save her my beer cans the aluminum ones .now this was before Christmas .
( she must known i was going to be putting a few away ) so i did . wont say how many cos ya wil fink im a drunky ... but a lot  :wink: i asked what she wanted em fer before Christmas but she wouldnt tell me saying it was a secret ........ * me she told me today she is going to split them to flat plate  and use them to tile her bird boxes etc she wil lay them like slate tiles and then tack em .. wot a wizard idea i thought. so what ya think  :lol:

simple idea, ideal for the job, yet overlooked, isnt that often the way,

many hundreds of years ago the exact same technique had been lost with another packaging material, it was rediscovered when shop windows needed to be bigger, that package was glass, a large bottle, melted and split in this way could form the best window glass available

all it needs is to just take a slightly sideways look at everyday items to see what great uses they could be put to. During my studies i came across a use for old cans in africa - people solder them together to build walls! fill em with sand and they are solid.

maybe we should all think a bit laterally more often

I've got a few made in the garage for the village nature reserve and might just give it a go..
I've made a couple of bat boxes which are made from a pallet free from the local garden centre, they were happy for me to take a pallet and said any time I want more just ask

i have to say that for recycling beer cans you cannot beat the south vietnamese kids . thhey make birds cars and all manner of fantastic things from them and sell them to tourists for pennies
