Cucumbers

Afternoon all

I was just wondering how tall people let their cucumbers grow?  And do you have to pinch the tops out once they get to a desired height?

I never know, and just charge into the GH and tell them I'm going to pinch them, and they all shudder and let me fly around, knocking them all about, and then they even thank me!

Seriously, it has never been proven what to do, and the books are hopeless!

Persoanly, I'd pinch them out and give them a good talking to! They deserve this as they normally die before we ever get them to this stage, so be omnipresent!

In all my years of growing cucumbers in greenhouse and outside, i have never pinched them out at all.
Do though build them a string cage for them to grow up and around.
Always a reliable crop.
I do though remove the yellow leaves and its browned trails later that start appearing later in its growing season.

I must confess to letting them just grow up a bean/pea net which extends up the side of the tunnel and half way across the roof, and picking off cucumbers as they are ready to harvest. A bit of a tangle but they do seem to like it. Any bits that escape and try to grow along the ground are either tucked back in or cut off
