Did you know that the nearest equivalent Heinz bean in the US contains twice as much sugar as it's UK counterpart? So it's not MacDonalds that's supersized them after all!

Beans, beans, the musical fruit, the more you eat, the more you - enough of that!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

US baked beans are like Boston Baked Beans which are cooked in molasses, not this odd tomatoey sauce stuff that belongs only on tinned pastas for children  :tongue2: Needs to be served with Boston Brown Bread for best enjoyment. Or with added bacon and onion (the US sweet baked beans, I mean). Boston has always been known for molasses and with that I counter your wikipedia entry with this one: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boston_molasses_flood

And the beans in heinz baked beans are haricot beans. You can find these dried usually in the supermarket but not plain cooked canned like you'd find butterbeans or kidney beans... only form of tinned seems to be heinz's baked beans.
wistfully hoping to one day be mostly organic gardener in North London.
