I use growing success advanced slug killer.  It seems to work and is supposedly wildlife/pet/children friendly.

We have been using advanced slug killer pellets but we think they are too wild life friendly - mice are eating them before the slugs get a look in!!   Anyone experienced the same problem - anyone got a solution

   They must be delicious!
I haven't used them, but if they're like a free carvery to anything that calls - so nothing is left for the slooow slugs, who get there last - can they be any good??
BTW Welcome, Gra.....just noticed that was your first post

ditto.

but when i've finally had enough of the little beasties eating my plants, i use "advance slug and snail killer" : it's an organic product, not approved by the Soil Assoc., but it is approved by the Organic farmers and growers association. it's basically ferric III phosphate so apparently pretty harmless...

....except to slugs and snails!

it works pretty well in my garden and i don't feel like i'm causing much damage. (except to the snails. heh.)!

taking the opposite view, anyone know what benefits slugs and snails have in the garden? they must have _some_ postive effects surely?!

I really didnt want to but after some horrific early losses to slugs etc(and yes I tried all sorts of organic methods) I resorted to pellets just over a week ago.

I must say they have been effective!

If you can possibly encourage hedgehogs or toads into your garden/plot they should do the work for you.
We had no trouble with them last year but I've yet to see a hedgehog this year and more of the slimey things about.

Aiding composting. Although if they've chewed their way through every leaf on the plot there won't be much to compost will there ?

I'm off to buy some slug death liquid today after they have mutilated our potatoes, runners, brussels sprouts, melons and red cabbages

I used Nemaslug (nematodes that kill the slugs under the soil as well as on top) last year and it worked really well. I've not applied it yet this year and I'm regretting it.  :x

I only put one application on and it did pretty well for the whole season.

Cheers,

Adrian
