The Winter Solstice.   Then the evenings will start to gradually get lighter, and we can really start to plan 2019.   All the lovely veg and flowers we are going to grow, and look forward to those lovey hot days again.

Actually, over here in sunny Kent, it starts a few seconds earlier than when it gets to Worthing, and Mumofstig's sunrise is even earlier!

I'm already planning for next year and got so tired doing it I had to sit down and look at a few websites...

The evenings will start to get lighter a bit earlier than that. Earliest sunset is around the 12th December, so you only have to wait a week. You have to wait a bit longer for the mornings to get lighter, around New Years day. It is to do with how solar noon varies relative to clock noon, sometimes it is before clock noon and sometimes it is later.

I just know I have to wait 'til a week or so after Christmas before I notice any changes, but I never forget the old proverb "As the day lengthens so the cold strengthens"  Sorry
