Shrub id please!
« on: April 08, 2016, 16:12 »
I bought this nice blue planter, but it has a shrub in it, which doesn't look terribly well.  I would have a better idea of where to transplant it if I knew what it was.  Any ideas?

It looks like Choisya Aztez Pearl but it does look a bit unhappy.  It should have a lot more leaves  ;)

It is probably starving .... it came from a house clearance sale and has been overwintered frost free but dry.  I bought it for the pot,  but now I know what it is I can get it established somewhere it likes.  And its not fussy - that's good, but up here on the ridge I am going to have to think about sheltered.

They are pretty tough.  I have a huge shrub in my back garden and it was encroaching over the edge of the flower bed, so I really hacked it back.  There was barely a leaf left and it stayed that way for months.  I was sure I had done for it.

Then all of a sudden it burst back into life and leafed up.  Last spring it was a blaze of flowers and it is covered in buds again this year.  Mine is in a pretty shaded spot and only gets late afternoon sun, but it is fairly sheltered where it is :)

Not sure, but could also be a Hebe. In any case, I'd reduce the growth back by two-thirds by cutting the stems just above an outward-growing shoot or leaf, then give it a good feed.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.
