Just seen the excellent video - so can anyone advise if Solent White garlic bulbs are available in most garden centres or do I have to get buymail order?
Also can you buy British grown bulbs in supermarkets - if so are they any good for planting?

Hiya - I usually send off for my Solent Wight - good suppliers on ebay. I wouldn't plant anything from the supermarket - you won't know its full provenence, and therefore what its growing and storing characteristics are.

whereabouts in wales are you from? Im from the rhondda and bought my solent white garlic for £2 from pughs garden centre near cardiff, if thats any use to you!!

ooh prwnhawn da, y gymraeg! Bit  of a Welsh thread b'yer. I'm originally from near Llantrisant - my grandparents had a farm at Pen y coed Cae (Coed Ely). Not a bulb of garlic in sight!

I know it well. Im at tonypandy. They sell garlic and most other grow your own stuff in leekes in llantrissant.
