Brussel Sprouts
« on: April 19, 2011, 16:06 »
Hi, I'm growing my own brussel sprouts from seeds and just wondered how do I know when to transplant them into a bigger pot and also how deep do i put them in the soil i transplant to?

I'm new to all this.  The ones I sowed last week have grown quite tall (couple of inches) but only have two iccle curled leaves on?

Please help

I transplant mine when the have a couple of true leaves and I bury them up to the seed leaves.

The two leaves at the bottom are the seed leaves.

Is it just me that thinks little sprout plants look cute :) Just transplanted mine into 3" pots yesterday at about that size and couldn't bear to throw any away so now have 18 plants.

i have grown these and moved them into 3" pots. the stem will get tall so need to put compost in up to the seed leaves and let it grow for a while. i have used this time to grow them outside in the air and wait once they grow their 3rd set of true leaves then i will plant them outside and just cover them from birds. might be a while before they can be moved outside though

Onion sets or seed?

If sets id just plant where they will grow

Same with carrots - just sow them where you want them to grow

no, they are both from seed.  The carrots have two leaves at mo and the onions/leeks have a green shoot about an inch tall with a bend in it?
