Rotting courgettes
« on: August 22, 2008, 12:13 »
Really cross :( I go away for one day and my courgettes are fine. Come back and loads of my courgettes have rotted :( Luckily the larger ones seem fine, but loads of the smaller ones are beyond any form of salvation. I've only had three courgettes this year so I'm hoping that some of the smaller ones will survive.

We've had such rotten weather here over the past few days and my courgette plant lives outside so I'm guessing that this is the cause - I'm praying it's nothing else too serious!

On the plus side, my tomotoes FINALLY look like they are starting to ripen, yay!

Courgettes should be outside  :D  You always get some rotting off.  Make sure you keep picking them and that usually encourages new ones  :D

They might benefit from a dose of tomato food.  Good luck.
Cheese makes everything better.

It's just been sooo wet :-(
Some of mine have gone the same way. I've just removed any rotting parts to keep the plant clean and given mine a dose of tomato food.

Although we are almost at the end of our courgette recipes so I might not fight too hard for them lol

Mine have gone through a phase of this after producing loads, I put it down to the weather as the older leaves have yellowed and gone mildewy - should I pull these off - however, gave them a good feed with tomato food and all of a sudden there is loads of new growth and buds appearing
