We got an Arbutus unedo (the Strawberry tree) this year and it's got loads of little white flowers that dangle in like a downward-looking pedicle. Now I've got two strawberry fruits on it! I'll post a pic when the weather clears up, but I'm really chuffed!

When we were regulars in The Pinetum near here, there were a couple of exquisite trees just as you describe!

It sounds like it's from Japan but it grows in Mediterranean areas, western France and Southern Ireland. Piccie coming soon.
