Plant 7

Silvery leaves and these fruit/berries on. Over 8ft tall

http://chat.allotment-garden.org/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=2877

Plant 8:

I have a couple of bushes of this - just below waist height but quite wide. Leaves quite silvery

http://chat.allotment-garden.org/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=2878

Ok trickier again now!

Plant 9

This small tree (8-9ft) but forgot to take leaves up close. They are glossy

http://chat.allotment-garden.org/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=2879

And finally (for now!)

Plants 10

A few different ones here. Have not seen any flowers or buds so I know it will be hard to tell and I might just have to wait. The one with the tiny leaves is growing up against a fence but looks quite miserable in places

No. 4 looks like an astilbe.
No.6 looks a bit like my hibiscus leaf

I think you're right about 4 (it has gone on my final list). Shame it isn't one of the pretty colours!

Don't think 6 is a hibiscus from the leaf images I can see on google. Would be nice if it is the flowers are pretty!

No 10, long leaves could be montbretia, small leaves are winter flowering jasmine, probably just needs hard pruning. Not sure of the flat leaved one.

No 8 is a silver lace fern.

No 9 -  a bay tree.
Here are some leaves cut from mine.
The stems on newer growth tend to be light green and older growth is greyer but there will be red tinges.
At the base of the trunk you will find much new growth.

Ok so far:

1- Golden Privet
2-
3-
4- Astilbe
5-
6-
7- cotoneaster francetti
8-
9-
10-

9 - I've had a good look and there are some green 'seed pods' or remnants of flowers left so I don't think it is a bay - it could be a Camilla in a tree form but I suppose I won't  know until next spring.

10 - montbretia seems like a good bet. Not sure winter jasmine is right but will see how it doesn't over the next few months

This is a great start thanks!

2 - another vote for Philadelphus - the flowers do look very like Belle Etoile
3 - another vote for Persicaria
5 - I think that is Portuguese Laurel
6 - another vote from Hibiscus
8- Sumach tree - Rhus typhina ?
9 - looks like a Camelia
10 - the long leaved one could be Iris Sibirica, the small leaved one on the fence is Winter Jasmine for sure

Could 10 be an iris, I don't think it's montbretia, have a rummage at the base & see if you can find the rhizomes
