Poly' cover, who from?
« on: June 04, 2011, 23:06 »

Our DIY polytunnel frame work will be (hopefully) finished by tommorow, and was wondering who to get the cover from?

Who do people rate, First tunnels or Premier polytunnels? Or is there others I've missed? (Google threw up these two first so went there).

I've priced both for the size I need, and there's only about £4 difference, but I want to know, who has used who, (service, p&p, overall cost etc...)??

When I was looking to buy, I thought this site was helpful at explaining the different types. The prices seem fair for a branded product, as well.

Northern Polytunnels are another reputable supplier you could look up. If you have a friendly local builders merchant ;), they might be prepared to source and supply you the Visqueen sheeting in mumofstig's link. Visqueen make all sorts of plastic sheeting, DPM, silage cover/wrap etc...

Mum, that link doesn't state the width of the sheeting, only the linear metre.

Do you know the width??

Oh, and some lotty holders are using / recommending similar stuff to this near me,

Rather than poly' sheeting because someone has a proper polytunnel and after only one year, it's got holes in it.  :(

If you click on the pic for the sort that you want, then the next screen shows the various widths each with their own box and price.

and that's the stuff that was the cover for my cheap polytunnel which went into holes in it's second summer >:(

Proper Visqueen has a five year guarantee

And, as I said, if you speak to your local builders merchant, most of whom deal with Visqueen as DPM etc anyway, then you'll be sorted! ;)
