It's Pooh Sticks time again!
« on: March 30, 2018, 14:36 »
Hello everyone. It's that jolly time of year when the envelope arrives inviting you to play the Pooh Sticks game. I know it's a faff but far, far better than faffing with a colostomy bag. Whilst I'm on this merry topic, why not play the "Magic Roundabout" using your hands and fingers on all those lovely round and soft places which usually come in twos, because if you don't you could end up losing at least one if not both. If Goosie can do it then so can you! PS - if Goosie hadn't done it a number of years ago she wouldn't be here typing this important post.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

Hubby has just sent his off in the post.
Sometimes we do need a reminder Goosie to do the checks.

I didn’t realise they still did that since they brought a new bowel screening test in that I was invited to take part in 2+ years ago, resulted in me having to go another time to have some polyps removed & be checked again in 3 years, which will be in January. Of course it could be a pilot scheme here in Leicestershire, can’t remember now whether it said that. Silly hubby refuses point blank to play pooh sticks🤬

Harsh words for him from GG! Tell him he'll either have to man-up or he could let you down big time! Unexplained lumps under the chin, in the armpits or groin areas, blood in your wee or poo, and trouble swallowing DEFINITELY needs a visit to the GP. Grab it before it gets a hold of you. Some of these things may be due to an infection but tell him to get a life before he realises he's left it too late.

Yep done all that GG, decided not to ge5 stressed about it, but I honestly won’t be sympathetic if he does develop anything nasty. In fairness he was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis 30 years ago that he keeps in abeyance by diet, where the Drs wanted to medicate but he can be very stubborn at times.

My OH struggled swallowing 18 month's ago. He's now  doing well and having folllow ups every 3 month's after 6 weeks of radium therapy with tonsil cancer.
Visit your doctor's and do all the checks people before things become worse......that's what all the checks are for, to help before it becomes too late.

I have just reached the age to be in the range to be checked. I am 55.1/2 and was invited to have a camera inserted into a place a camera should not go. Friends in work have said they don't get checked until at least 60yrs old. Thankfully I got the all clear, they have now said they will send me the poo sticks when I now get to 60.

I had a breast scan a few months ago, as a lump appeared from nowhere...

I couldn't have had a better care system than in Pembury Hospital, and all was clear - despite the fact that I'm going through the same as you gals might do on occasions, which seems odd, but the docs said it's normal!

I seem to remember a serious advert which suggested that blokes should do all the feeling around to find anything, and I'm all for that too!
