Pleased with the Buddlia
« on: June 19, 2018, 13:10 »
Last year one self-seeded in my garden, which I decided was in a good place as it would help shade my ferns.
So when it was about 6 inches high, I started to trim  all off except the main stem.   This I have continued to do, and so now I have a lovely buddlia tree, the ferns are shaded and I can see them all.  the overall height is about 10ft (so far) and the trunk is about 2 and 1/2 maybe 3 feet.   It is covered in lots of buds, so I hope the butterflies will enjoy it as much as I am.  Mrs Bouquet

That sounds rather good and should attract lots of insects to the flowers.  :D

Once they are finished, cut them off to avoid a rash of self seeded plants though... unless you want these? Pruning it back hard in late February - early March will keep it in shape too

Photos of the flowering "tree"would be good, please!

Photo - well at the moment, I have taken the pic, taken the card out of the camera and put it in laptop, but cannot get any further.  It won't go onto the laptop.  Is me doing it wrong I expect  ::)If I could upload it I know how to get it from laptop onto our site (I think).   I'll have another go, it'll be there eventually.
