Hosepipe adaptors
« on: June 20, 2017, 09:25 »
I have two ancient outdoor water taps, probably at least 60 years old. The exit ends are threaded and their external diameter is measured at 22.6 mm or 0.9 inches. Any idea where I can buy the Hozelock-type adaptors for them so I can fit sprinklers etc?. I've just about driven myself daft in B&Q and Homebase etc as just when I think I've found what I need and get it home, it's just about 0.1 mm too small. Plastic adaptors must exist, or have existed, as one of the taps has one, albeit totally knackered

I think you need imperial to metric adaptors like these..

What's the external diameter of the thread ? You're more likely to find a proper brass plumbing fitting to bring it down to 3/4" and then a standard hose fitting onto the that.

Sounds like it's a 5/8" BSP, but just in case https://www.stevensonplumbing.co.uk/bspt.html.....

Yes, it must be a 5/8th BSPT thread - and thanks for the chart which I've now bookmarked for further use.
So what thread do I need it adapted to to make it fit a Hozelock standard male hosepipe attachment? Any idea where I might buy such an adaptor, brass, plastic or whatever, please?

Great advice from Mumofstig and Auntiemogs. The company you recommended, Stevenson plumbing posted two adaptors the same day, they arrived today and are now on the two outside taps. Thank you both. Job's a good un, as they say up here.  :D
