Whats it called?
« on: September 21, 2007, 20:46 »
Today my Dad has given me a garden tool which was my Grandads and I've taken it and used it on the allotment today, but I'm interested in what its called. Its about 4ft long, has a wheel and 2 prongs which plough up the soil and a handle which you push.  Can anyone can help me with what it is?  Thanks

No he is a genuine workman.Flat cap, boiler suit, and a pair of big boots. The original owner I think. But I do know what you mean about the coller and tie bit.The musium is very down to earth. It has an Anderson shelter and a war time garden. On open days you can sit in the shelter and they play the sirens and you can hear planes going over. Then the bombs dropping and the explosions,Then the all clear.
The war time garden is very well thought out. They do eat the produce.
They also display all the old types of farming machinery etc.In fact its a worthwhile day out.

Yes my dad says he has other implements that you can change too, but he's looking for them.  I would post a picture but its in the shed at the lottie and I'm not going today as its raining.  Thanks for your replies.  I like the wheelavator idea!

I remember seeing those things too, though I can't remember the name of them either. Until about 10 years ago one particular seed catalogue sold a variation of this with a single prong and an upper seed box, the unit was for planting multi seeds like carrots, etc. You'd need to be feeding a small army to need one of those contraptions
