Anti-Rabbit fence for veg beds
« on: July 10, 2007, 19:38 »
We have big (although improving) Rabbit problem that has already decimated new shrubs. We're planning to dig new veg beds. Initially 4 x 5'x10' beds all in a row. I want to build a fence all the way round the 4 beds.

I'm thinking of putting in posts to which I can attach removable chicken wire frames with anti-dig skirts. The idea being I can remove the fence panels to work on the beds.
IS this viable? How high would I need to make the fence?

I'm definately no expert, this is all new to me so my idea is straight out of my imagination. Thanks for any guidance.

Oh incase it's relevant this isnt an allottment it's our own back garden. We live next to a game keeper who has done a great job culling the rabbits, but we need that last line of defence.

Thanks again

we done loads of this under contract for another company, the proved methord that we where using was a foot skirt into the ground and then 2 1/2 foot out .

you could put your wire into the ground a foof and then frame it like a rased bed, your removable sections could sit down onto your bed frame, 4x1" for the bed frame and then 2X2" for the wire frame.

it would work and last wekk
