Garden tool storage
« on: September 06, 2010, 18:38 »
I have to share my smaller tools and bits between my garden and allotment, I am starting to misplace things because they end up in a muddle at the bottom of different bags. I have one of those smallish bags with the side pockets - hopeless! Doesn't work for me at all. I was thinking about a 'tool stack on wheels' to keep it all in one place but I think the drawers are too narrow so....

What do you do?  Am I the only one in a muddle?  :)

Toolbags are a waste of time , a 2 gallon bucket is much better. :)

One of the flexible rubber trugs will do if you need bigger.

Rubber trug fer me everytime -- lug it in and out of the car and it lives in the porch right by the front door -- always at the ready  ;)

I use an old cool box, being plastic very sturdy, lightweight and roughly square with a lid it is about right size and I can use it as a seat. Lid prevents stuff falling out or rain getting in. Gloves and radio as well as wolf attachments etc all finish up in there with usual small tools, tape, string lines etc and if grandkids are about easy to put lid back on to keep little fingers away from sharp edges.
Trouble for me with with buckets and trugs is I forget which is for tools and then weeds and stones etc get thrown in as well !!!!!!!!!!

You could always try and get a set for each... Freecycle is always a great place to look, then you wouldnt have the problem..  :D :D

Thank you for your ideas, I do have a large plastic trug but it gets used for the weeds and then it all gets in a muddle from being tipped out. Love the cold box idea - and could do withe a 'weeding' seat! Maybe I could use our old cold box until Freegle comes up trumps.....

Thanks a lot for your thoughts folks!
