 hi all i have a fair amount of ivy growing along  my fence its from the opposite side tried killing it but to no avail so end up cutting as much down as possible i was wondering if  anyone knows if its harmfull to my hens as i cant find any reference to the evil stuff in any books ,as they are always scratcing along the edge i shall have to put a fence inside the fence if its harmful .any help will be greatfully recieved thank you -robby

i have ivy going up the sycamore tree thats in the run an the girls  have all pecked around it an they are still all well.

If you put an inner fence up, the ivy will simply grow under or through it, so save your money.
The hens seem to know what is bad for them although they may peck at creepy crawlies in the ivy.

  hi thanks for the advice watched them today and they were pecking in amongst the ivy so if it has any side affects i should know soon  they didnt seem to be pecking the ivy though .

Hi, my hens used to live in a converted garage that was covered in ivy and used to roost  and scratch around in it all the time and we never had any problems with it, they freeranged around the garden and orchard. Nic.
