« on: November 23, 2014, 10:24 »
I have recieved an email from Ken Muir .Your order has been updated to the following status: Shipped

Gooseberry 'Hinnonmaki Red'
Redcurrant 'Rovada'
Pink Currant ‘Gloire de Sablon’
Gooseberry 'Hinnonmaki Yellow'
Gooseberry 'Xenia'*

My husband built a 12' by 2' raised bed for my birthday in September with built in fruit netting and hopefully tomorrow I get to put my plants in. I cant wait. I checked the met office and I will even be able to do it in the sun.

That is a good sort of present!  He is definitely a keeper.   :nowink:

I agree  :D

Gooseberries and redcurrants all planted. What a beautiful day to be able to do it . Now I just have to work out how to make them into cordons.

There are always new things to learn when growing your own despite how old you are!

How are you training them? 12' doesn't seem much for 5 plants, only just over 2' between plants. For normal bushes you'd be looking at twice that.

I am intending to train them as cordons. In my minds eye it looks great; 5 cordons looking so colourful.

redcurrant, pink currant, red gooseberry, yellow gooseberry, pink gooseberry all in  a line.

There might be a reality check in store for me though

Yes, that should look good :D You've just got to keep on top of the pruning and be quite harsh or you'll end up with bushes anyway, I did ::)
