How can I improve the drainage to my plot, part of the bottom section of the plot, mainly in the corner area, water just sits and takes a while to drain away.

Hard to be definitive without seeing the plot / soil type, etc.

If you can cut a trench for a field drain, then remember this will drain the land DOWNHILL from the drain moreso than it will uphill from the drain.  A drain must have somewhere to drain to though.

You might simply dig a soak-away in the corner area - basically a big hole filled with stones, gravel and sand.  This will only work if there is somewhere for water to soak away to.

Do you have any friends who are golf greenkeepers or farmers?  Their advice is worth spending a couple of pints to get.

Unfortunately I do not have any friends who are Greenkeepers or Farmers.

Our plot seems to slope which is why we are having these problems I am told, but I would like the water to drain down to a unused plot at the bottom of mine quite close to the wet bed.

I was going to take pictures but unfortunately my pictures are too big to upload to this site, tried to add a couple of my plot to the photo gallery but did not work:?
