We had some that germinated from nuts stolen by squirrels from our bird feeder, and helpfully planted by them in our hanging baskets

Sadly they did not develop any nuts under the ground, but I know that others have had more success

You'll find complete info HERE.

Starting them indoors is a must in the UK climate since they need a lot of warmth and sun to produce well. Most people are a bit perplexed by the peduncles that sprout from the flower and into the ground but that's the actual peanut stem rooting so it can produce a peanut. The more peduncles, the more peanuts you get.

I like to grow something different every year with the grand children and we thought we might try peanuts next year. I understand that a sandy soil and some warmth is what's needed.  :)

Had a couple of plants in the garden a few years back, squirrels had buried nuts and they germinated, planted them up in pots to give them a better chance.     A few days later the squirrels had upended the pots and dug up the plants!
Do you really need al that lettuce/

Squirrel-proof them as well then. Maybe grow them in the greenhouse?

Might give them a go, with metal cages around them, bet mice love them too! Bit of fun. Grew chickpeas this year, they are lovely - but we did have an ideal summer for them.
