Will my carrots survive this snow?

Or will they just be frozen and go all mushy when they thaw? I'm kicking myself for not lifting them before, but I just forgot about them.

I been chiseling mine out thoughout this weather & they're fine.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Rememeber that you can freeze carrots and they ccok well from frozen  ;)

Goodo, cos they're luvly carrots. Maybe this is a stupid question, but why is it okay for carrots to get frozen but not spuds?

If you freeze potatoes you have to have part cooked them first (ie frozen chips) if they are not to turn to mush  :ohmy: :ohmy:

If there was plenty of snow cover and there were still some green leaf to protect them your carrots may be OK.

If they were exposed with no snow cover the frost may have got into the top inch or so.

Those you lift straight after the thaw will be OK but you may need to cut off any frozen bit.

During the next week or two those affected by frost will start to rot from the top.

It will be interesting to find out how things have survived. As usual there will be joys and disappointments
