Dug up the last of the celery then cleared a silted up culvert that is supposed to drain my plot.

Hurrah - stopped off at the Parish Council just as the bloke was chipping the Christmas trees.  He shovelled 13 bags full for me so I took him some chocolates then went up the plot and finished my main paths.  The plan has evolved so they are not quite diagonal, but a straight section up the middle longways where the compost bins are, and then branching to each corner.  I dug out a few inches of soil before I put the chippings on so 3/4 of the plot is looking pretty heaped now what with the stuff that's come out of the hedgebank - only the quarter where I sowed broad beans is still at the original level!

Its all too wet to do much.  Pulled some leeks and found a potato that had got missed, it was looking good too.  The birds are enjoying the apples on the tree and leaving empty apple shells all over the garden.

Nothing same as yesterday, the day before, last week and the week before, because its still blooming raining. I had to take such a detour today it would have been faster taking a dingy.

We've just put 10 bags of really well rotted down horse manure on kitchen garden, as we've had a reasonable day with sunshine 12 degrees it was this afternoon.  :D

Was thinking 'nice spade' too.

Anyway, 2m3 of compost spread over the plot. My back, arms, legs, shoulders..... hurt.

Its still raining, sheet lightening, hail, rain. I have just driven home at 20mph along a dual carriageway as no-one could see the nose of the car. Absolutely horrendous. I have no hope of getting on the plot till it does some serious drying out.

somerset is drowning, send boats so we can escape.

I tried to turn it over by hand, but its just a dense mat of couch grass,as it was, it pulled the mini
digger forward in parts when i tried to turn it. masses of white roots waiting to be lifted now. Though
i guess i'll miss as many as i pull.

Not a lot is the honest answer! Greenhouse intact but so it should be as it is held in place by 4x2ft deep pegs and the plastic panels are now held in by almost continuous W clips!
The soil is so wet and being clay it is reverting to type - a flooded mess!
Still I can enjoy reading seed catalogues and dreaming of dry weather!

That's the lovely thing about living in some parts of West Sussex - we usually get a good belt of sunshine.

My soil has been diggable every-time I've managed to get to it.  Loads still to do so I'm hoping the snow keeps off long enough once Noah's favourite weather clears.
