Title: RIP Mabel - help with possible reason
Post by: gracie on May 13, 2018, 17:34
Sadly we lost Mabel today our 7 year old Buff Orpington. She’s been blind in one eye and hasn’t laid an egg for at least two years but she was our girl with the frilly knickers. She has been doing everything that she has always done and this morning I even laughed out loud when I went round as she skipped towards me with a real bound when she thought I had food for her. I left her sitting with the others whilst I went to water some plants and heard what I can only describe as a howl so I ran straight round and she was gone. Is it possible our bossy one jumped on her or do you think it’s more than likely a heart attack?

Can't help unfortunately.  I've lost three all to different reasons - if only they could tell us what is going on!  Feel for your loss.

Poor Mabel.  it is hard when you have had them so long and then they go  :(

She lived to a decent age and it sounds like she had a lovely life. Take comfort in the fact that it was quick and all over before she really knew what was going on  :)
