What I did on the plot today:

"Swam" wouldn't surprise me if the rest of the country is the same as it is here on New Year's Day.

Sun predicted for tomorrow morning so it'll be the only chance I get this week.

Nuffink! too wet and windy to venture down there. Thank goodness I had already got the last of the parsnips up.
small, Welsh and almost certainly bonkers, but can be tamed with Talisker, if required

Squelched to the plot, worried that everything will drown.  Pulled a couple of leeks ( no need to dig, and the holes filled themselves as the leeks came out - sort of slushy soil come water). Decided worrying a bit pointless.  Put veg peelings on compost heap, looked at bent, wind damaged fruit cage (50th birthday present so very sad)  came home to make leek and potato soup.

Finally dry and sunny today so did a bit more clearing of the big bramble area. I edged my permanent rhubarb bed with rocks and then planted out a few more raspberry canes.

2 injuries of a nasty blood blister on my finger and a very scratched up leg from a giant bramble. Start the year as I mean to go on

Happy new Year everyone - hope is a bumper year for our veg and flower gardens.

Yesterday just had to tidy up my house roof where we nearly had a disaster... a firework fell on my flat roof where I keep my old long plastic troughs (that I used to grow onions etc on the roof) and ignited them... Thankfully we saw the flames it in time and although most were burned we saved the house and roof!! Could have been nasty had the roof caught fire!!

And now as its raining its a in house day so I am busy making finishing touches to my light growing box to start of some show onions..
Now a member of the 10 Ton club.... 2013  harvested 588 Kg from 165 sq mt..

wow Gavin great you caught it in time!

Spent 4 hours weeding and poop shoveling today exhausted! wasn't the area I meant to tidy up but I find that's always the way, that 1/4 is pretty much sorted til sping now - trying to get ahead of the game!

some wind damage ripped nets keeping the birds off a few brassicas, the nets fell to bits when I touched them clearly cheap non uv stable ones lesson learned there
