Sieve the bits out while it is still warm - works a treat  :)

Used to do this when Mum and I made the Mamade one. She loved bits and I hated them. Not available in BG.

Love marmalade, have a tin of marmade in the cupboard just waiting for the next jar to be used up from the last batch :)
Staffies are softer than you think.

Use the normal ingredients but put the peel in a cotton/muslin bag, so you get the taste but can remove it before jarring.
When I had free access to orange and lemon trees, in Greece - I used to follow a normal recipe and sieve some for me but my friends liked the shreds so left theirs in

Supplies are a bit basic in Bulgaria and they don't eat marmalade or grow citrus, as I rarely go to a supermarket I eat seasonally as that is what is available. I don't miss it enough to go looking for something I might not be able to get. If Seville oranges reach the big supermarkets (We go once a month) I might make some, we'll see what happens next year, but you are not advised to go far in Jan/Feb due to weather and road conditions.

What will be will be. :).

Great after kippers too!

I love marmalade, and the only time I was disappointed, was when I managed to get what they called the 'No 5', which was pathetic!

I go by the darkest jar...

To the dark side have you been turned , Skywalker :D

Sounds like my dark Oxford marmalade. ;)

It was indeed, Mrs Bee! my supermarket always sold 1 - 4, but one day I spotted a No 5 strength, which is supposed to be extra violent, and it was paler than Golden Shred, and even less flavour!

We're going to the big supermarket this Thursday, so I'll look out for it again, they don't do it in our local one...

They do a lemon marmalade & also jam,just strawberry I think. L*keland do them,sometimes on special offer. I also think I had 1 from B & M.

How much whiskey do you think I should add,had a look in the cupboard & found a bottle of Chivas Regal that should be OK shouldn't it?

Lakelands brand is called Home Cook, and it's a little bit more expensive than MaMade

You'll have to let us know if you see them on offer  ;)

5 tablespns of whiskey is about right  ;)

my Dad would love whiskey marmalade! - do you think I could separate a couple of jars worth before potting it up and add a little whiskey to that? (I'm not a fan of whiskey so would prefer mine without it)

I like the sound of grapefruit , I love marmalade , just done some with apple , its cloudier but very tasty , its from an old book I got in a charity shop 100 things to do with apples and each recipie has a little bit about the person who supplied it .

Mrs Growster always buys me a jar of lime marmalade at Xmonius!

It sometimes lasts until January, but not very often...
