Pumpkins?

Quick question for the pumpkin growers out there, how big an area m2 wise would I be needing to put aside to grow them?

I would say that depends on how many of which varieties you plan to grow. They vary a lot in size....

BIG.

It depends on which variety/s you want to grow, and how many of each.

I tend to grow my rambling squashes (pumpkins, pink bananas, etc) under and between my sweet corn as I feel its a good use of space and it works for me. Others will disagree and do it differently.
I was put on this earth to accomplish a certain number of things; right now I am so far behind I will never die.

I plant them outside the sweetcorn root area, but allow the stems to run about between the corn stems. As corn and squash/pumpkins are heavy feeders, I don't think they should be sharing the same rootspace.

I find all but the biggest pumpkins (Atlantic Giant etc) can be grown about 1.25m apart, but their trailing stems will grow a long long way, unless you curl them around themselves. You can be quite strict and peg them down where you want them to grow ;) I had 4 growing in an 2.5m X 1.4m bed, and took my eye off them for a while, and they ended up taking over the paths as well

Varieties like Golden Nugget, or Summer Ball are more like courgette in growth and don't wander far.

Ok thanks for the replies, it's purely for the kids for halloween so any recommendations on one that won't take up to much room, thanks.
