Headless Tomato Plant
« on: April 23, 2017, 18:55 »
Hi Guy's.
Last week whilst I was repotting my tomato plants I accidentally snapped off the top growing point.
The plant has continued to grow and I new leader seems to be forming form the leaf joint (such as side shoots do later in the season). Is it worth me continuing with this plant and will it form toms later in the season.

Thanks

Yes it will be as good as new. In fact I believe there is a tomato growing technique, were you break off the leading shoot and train two shoots that form into, effectively, two plants with one stem. Haven't tried it myself though.
We come from the earth, we return to the earth, and in between we garden.

My tomatoes got a hammering from golf ball sized hail last year and they recovered nicely many of them were as you describe... don't worry it will produce tomatoes .
