Japanese onion sets and container growing
« on: September 28, 2006, 12:09 »
I've been given a few 12inch deep, 18inch wide, 2ft long plastic containers, which would allow me to leave the main patch over the winter, and dig in some manure etc.

I was wondering if these would be OK for onion sets (I've already drilled drain holes in them) ?

Thanks for any replies
Organic where possible, unless it involves the snails that now seem to be eating the slug pellets for fun

Probably. That sounds deep enough and large enough. Space them as you would in the soil, maybe giving them a bit extra room than usual since they're in limited soil space.
wistfully hoping to one day be mostly organic gardener in North London.
