Potato plant damaged by slugs - dig them up?
« on: June 18, 2012, 19:53 »
I have been growing potatoes in bags and the leaves on a few of them have been badly eaten up by slugs/snails in the last few days (almost no leaves left on some).  They are swifts which were planted about 9 weeks ago.  Had a bit of a dig around with my hands and there are some nice looking potatoes in there but slightly small still.

Any chance the potatoes will still grow a bit bigger if I leave them another week or 2 or does the lack of foliage completely stop more growth?  I could just use them as small new potatoes but if they are likely to grow a bit more I'd prefer to go with that.

Any tips on this would be appreciated.

if all the foliage is eaten they won't get bigger, but if there's any left to feed them they should swell a little more.
