Yep I saw it on the TV this morning, wondered if you were near it or not. Hopefully it has been contained at the source. Good luck Karl.

Nightmare - just when we thought the panic had stopped.  Hopefully it won't get outside of the BM place. 160,000 birds - what  a terrible place that must be.

Thought of you as soon as we heard it this morning Karl.  Fingers crossed its contained.  Feel sorry for hte poor turkeys, but not for BM.  They say birds are kept in sterile conditions in the houses, but where does the feed and bedding come from and where does he rear his eggs?  On his British farms, or the Roumanian and Polish ones????

We are on the UK poultry register nd just got a letter from DEFRA recommending our workers to be immunised against the avian flu, (workers?  there's only me and himindoors!), but he likes people to think he's a farm!!!!

Bernard Matthrews started in Norfolk, but has farms in suffolk and lincolsnhire as well, and some years ago, went over the poland, then roumania and Bulgaria  and goodness knows where else.

People think its all English because it says on the packet, Norfolk farm turkeys, but anywhere can be called Norfolk farm!  I used to work with a woman who's husband was manager of one of BM's farms up near Boston.

He has shut a lot over here, but I think he's still got about 30 in UK, but goodness knows how many he's got over there where the labour and everything else is so much cheaper!!!!

Something like that, but doesn't make him a nice person.  I know people that know him and they say he's a bit of a slimeball, but don't tell anyone, in case he has me for defamation of character!!!!!

As soon as they annouced it on the news we knew it would be Bernard Matthews - most of the battery farming round here is him!  He's not got the best of reputations locally for the way he looks after his stock - they're enclosed because the poor little blighters never get out of their house!
