Long handled dibber

Does anyone use a long handled dibber (not a bulb planter) with a crosspiece to use your foot? Either bought or home made - if you have made one, I'd be grateful for (simple) instructions!

Hi
I ve made a long dibber from an old Hoe handle. At one end sharpen until you get the size and shape of point you need, then smooth down with glasspaper for a good finish. Now mine does not have a crossbar but it's fairly easy, decide how far back from the point you want the cross piece I'm guessing but I would think between 6 and 8 inches is OK drill a 1/2 inch hole through the handle, now you want a piece of 1/2 inch diameter threaded rod and the nuts to fit.  Cut the rod to about 10 inches and fix to the handle. To finish off cover the rod with some old hosepipe should last for ages. Good Luck
