Dismantling a chicken run
« on: June 24, 2013, 16:42 »
I no longer use my chicken run as my girls have flown to the hen house in the sky. I was thinking of selling it on ebay as it's a very good one. Trouble is it appears to have been nailed together. It was made off site, delivered and then assembled here.  Will it separate easily or do you think I should forget the idea?

I just didn't want to sell it on ebay if the buyer can't then get it dismantle without damaging it. If it had been screwed together it would have been a doddle. Can't think why the guy nailed it together  :(

Here we are. I think it seems to be nailed only at the ends (each corner)  I checked along the front and back and there are no nails at all, so it the nails are just at the corners it might not be too bad to prise apart, but what do I know  :nowink:

I just wanted to know if it will come apart easily so I can sell it on fleabay  :D  Whoever buys it can take it to bits. I don't want to dismantle it as I want them to see it as it stands, if you get my drift.  I didn't want to advertise it though if it wasn't possible for it to be taken apart without wrecking it  :)

I think many people will be happy if its all listed on the auction that its got nails etc. Most people wont worry about having to do small repairs if needed when they take apart and put together again. Once they have seen it together they will know how it goes.

Yes I would be completely honest but I'd hate for someone to come a long way only to be disappointed.  I sold all my other equipment on ebay very easily and successfully so I know it works.

Take it away without dismantling it??? It's 12' long and 7'high so they'd need a big lorry  :)

My husband doesn't want me to sell it, saying he can turn it into a summer house. He says he can do a lot of things but I know he'll never turn it into anything but a dumping ground for his mower, so I'm keen to sell it and use the money to buy a new summerhouse  :)

Thanks for the tips everyone, I'm clearer now and I feel more confident about offering it  :)
