Found an opened foil packet in the bottom of my seed bag, no name or number on the packet. I recognise the seed but cant put a name to it and its driving my bonkers
Can anyone put my out of my misery and give it a name. :D
Thats a 1p in the picture for scale.

I've used that seed before but I can't think what it is either, other than it's a flower. Sorry.
-
From the back of the mind I've dragged Lavatera, what do you think Trillium?
If anyone has a packet would you have a look and see if the seed looks like little doughnuts
Thanks
-
Tut, it`s obviously the money plant.   :tongue2:

There was I thinking -ooooh David's replied- he'll know ::)
It's got me going mad trying to remember what it is as well. I know I've grown it and I'm almost sure it's a hardy annual, but me brains gone blank...........no change there then
-
Sweet Pea. :D
-
You're not helping you know ::)
-
right I've checked packets it's not lavatera, or cosmos or wallflower or dahlia, or penstemon or nicotine, or honesty or foxglove :(
so not much help really sorry....I tried ::)

Could be totally off on a tangent here, but is it Californian Poppy?
-
'snot sweet pea silly :tongue2:
Then what is it?

I don't have any on hand but is it musk mallow?
-
I don't have any on hand but is it musk mallow?
Lavatera family?
-
So do you recon it is Lavatera. Years ago I grow Silver Cup -dont know if you can still get it - it was pink. Its so annoying  I'll pot up the seed but it must be soooo old i doubt it will germinate ::)
-
it's not lavatera!!!
I tipped the seed out of the pkt and they ain't like that...honest......unless that is a complete seed head?
individual Lavatera seeds are small and not unlike a cabbage seed.....that sort of size ::)
-
Is it pot marigold? I seem to remember the seeds curl right round like that
-
no it's not marigold, they have a sort of 'feather' attached
-
Theres only one way to fiind out, try growing it ;)
-
By pot marigold do you mean calendula. It does look a bit like that except calendula is paler and they are semi circles.................ermm! not really like it at all then LOL. I must admit though thats the first one that came to my mind. But I'm sure its not.
-
No, I just planted calendula and the seeds aren't like that at all.
Musk mallow is actually part of the hibiscus family, and is sometimes known as Malva moschata. Here's a pic of the seeds, close but not quite I think:

You're gonna hate me Spanna but that link Casey posted says the seed is 4mm in diameter. Your piccie of them next to a 1p looks like they are way smaller than that.......................I'll get my coat now

The strange thing is, its such a distinctive seed that several people recognise it and say they have grown it but none of us can put a name to it.
It must be something quite ordinary as i don't grow anything difficult
