Brief chat with inspector. He doesn't think this constitutes 'statutory nuisance' (although a cockerel would be another matter) so all will be well I think.  One idea I had was a write a short paragraph to sum up our chat written in the third person (so it would suffice as his report).  Thankfully he asked me to e-mail it so hoping he has copied and pasted it into his records.

People are happier when you do their work for them so they don't have to do it!

Glad it's all looking a bit more positive for you. These situations are always worrying. The person who complained will now have someone else to focus their ire on, the inspector. Some people have nothing better to do than gripe and gossip, but it's not a healthy way to live.

Will the inspector be issuing you and the person who complained some kind of formal response? I hope so. That should put paid to any moaning to you or behind your back.

Good luck to you and your hens for the future.

I hope this is the end of the matter for you now. I can't believe how pathetic some people can be. The other neighbours will have to watch out now because these kind of people are never happy unless they're complaining about something.

Enjoy your chooks - you've done nothing wrong and didn't deserve all the grief this has caused you.

I am realy glad it turned out well for you

Lets face it, 3 hens arent going to be a problem, I just some arent happy unless they are miserable and those around them the same

As long as you have something in writing to present to the next complainer  :)
It's all about the journey, not the destination
