MUNTJAC,  i would like to know how often you use your fertilizer recipe, and would you suggest  differing mixes for certain plants, ie can a mix equalling the results of tomorite be made.
I ask as i can get the ingredients at VERY resonable cost.
When the sun shines i dig,
When rain pours i dig
When the wind blows---I SURF.

Ok...I think I've got this right:

The recipe was for compost...so if you want fertilizer for brassicas etc.

3/4 oz of sulphate of ammonia and 1/4 oz potash mixed with a gallon of water.

Fertilzer for roots..

3/4 oz potash and 3/4 oz sulphate of ammonia.

As for tomorite Munt suggests you use liquid fertilizer (real sh*t) immersed in water for an amount of time and apply diluted.
Munt also reckons now is the time for a light dressing of potash on your spuds (not on the leaves as this will burn) to give them a good kick. :)

some of youwho read my posts may see me taklking about making up me own fertiliswer or reinvigorating old compost . the thing is its only old because the fertiliser will have been used up in it . so here is my mix for making my fertiliser for feeding to all my plants on the plot. as i said its my mix if you dont want to use it as it stands feel free to add or subtract what ya wanna  oh n its in blooming ounces etc cos i dont do blooming metric

30 oz of sulphate of ammonia
42 oz of superphosphate
12 oz of sulphate of potash
and 10 oz of bone meal

make sure ya mix them dry or the wieghts come out different
this is enough for about 30sq yards if ya gardens smaller make the mix up n save some till winter or spring ....if its bigger make more . oh n its about a tuna flake tin to the sq yard

Ahh!! He's probably forgotten about that one!!.......I've no idea Allan...but going by the amount of sulphate of ammonia I'm imagining that this would be more for brassicas........'cos leafy plants love sulphate of ammonia and roots and fruit like potash.

certainly does the trick,  i was told that the reason my end of the fields plots were over grown and mt was because no one could grow anything but tatas and sweetcorn. When clearing the site of loads of couch i put in some patchy manure and in early feb scattered over your potion, and rotovated end march.

I have loads of stuff growing, except peas, which i planted early on an untouched piece of plot,  got to six inches and just froze there.

thanks m8
