Can't quite remember who, and yet to try it myself, but someone also told me that you can sometimes get them from pet shops?  I think because of reptiles and incubating eggs or such things....

Try veg wholesalers - if they buy watercress it comes packed in ice in polystyrene boxes.

Try your local large animal vets, alot of the bottles come in polysterene boxes, 12 singles compartments with matching lid ;)

Anyone in Co. Tyrone wanting them, I can supply loads of them as well as 25 kg plastic bags and baler twine

Hi

As 8doubles has mentioned, try tropical fish sellers.

Fish are often flown in/shipped in from suppliers in large poly containers.

A chain like Maidenhead aquatics have a high fish turnover & may be a good bet.

Maybe ask at the fish counter in large supermarkets, if they have them in, they may be happy to give them away.

Not tried it myself, but I think Morrison's will let you have them. (Fish counter).

We have a permanent indoor market in town and every day  they put all their unwanted polystyrene boxes, plastic and wooden trays at a collection point where anyone can help themselves to what is there.  I use the polystyrene boxes for growing salads in in my greenhouse and I also find them useful for overwintering fuchsias in.  On the allotment I use them as mini seedbeds for starting off leeks and brassicas.  I also have one sunk into the ground filled with water for a wildlife pond there.

It's always the way. I'm in Kent, and behind our unit is.... A tropical fish seller! He has about twenty of those boxes in a skip right now.....

I'll happily send you one but post might be a bit.... :(

Have you tried a GP surgery or pharmacy. Vaccines are delivered in polystyrene insulated boxes. They are a good size too!

Chinese supermarkets have loads of them for the fish
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.
