Duck Eggs
« on: July 31, 2009, 20:35 »
I currently have 2 welsh harliquin ducklings at 6 weeks old.
I am still not sure what sex they are and early quacking shows signs that I may have 1 or each.
If I do I will probably keep the drake and get a second duck as I have heard this is best practice.
With a drake being present I was wondering how I will be able to tell if I can eat the eggs will be ok for eating or if they have been fertilised etc.
Sorry its probably silling question but im just not sure how it all works!!!!!!!

They are fine to eat whether they are fertilised or not. You just won't get any ducklings without a boy if you want to do that.
Be like a duck. Calm on the surface but always paddling like the dickens underneath.
