Looking for Chickens in the HULL area.?
« on: January 23, 2009, 16:39 »
Hi everyone!! this is my first time & no doubt il be here plenty of times as im about to keep four chickens, i would like to just say im a freindly person aged 36 from the HULL area, ive read the Forum Rules & im well aware of what to do & what not to do, i just wondered if anyone knew if they was any supplyers in the hull area as it seems there's a big "Blank" when i start asking around..? i didnt know theyd be so hard to get..?
My wife loves them & my 6 year old son wants them BUT to lay eggs i dont think after keeping them i could eat them...
Anyway if anyone can give any tips that would be very much appreciated & if there is any knowledge of seller's in my area too,
LAstly WHAT a lovely forum eh....
Kindest Regards
keith

There's a lady who advertises in the Poultry Press (maybe I'm not allowed to give the name?) who says Hull in her Advert, although she's got a Hornsea number. - Mrs Barnard on 01964 670759.  I'm in the same position as you - trying to source a small flock (4 hens).  I've not managed to get hold of her - left a message on her answering machine on Wed but she hasn't got back to me.

If you manage to get in touch with her, send me pm and let me know what she charges.

Good luck - let us know what you get - when you eventually do.

Oooh, must look there.  I couldn't find it near Tickton - daughter lives at Weel so we're there quite often.  Might have a mosey out to Skirlaugh- thanks!

Have you thought about having some ex-battery hens? I've not regretted for a second getting mine and want some more.

Hi, the lady I spoke about has stopped.  She used to get black rocks as day olds but found the cost of heating over winter as well as feeding was too high.  I'm getting them from Outgate in a few weeks' time.  Further to go, but it's the nearest I've found.

chickens in hull , drive throuygh bilton , past the large garden centre in preston, then turn right into neat marsh lane, about 1/2 a mile down on the left then into gravel path and ask for alan the chicken man ,
