What are these few black leaves on my broad beans?
« on: November 21, 2008, 09:28 »
The beans are about 3 inch high and in a container that has sides slightly higher than the tallest plant, its very windy here today and on 'googling' some folks say that the wind is whats causes it.

There are only a few leaves affected.  Should I just nip the affected leaves off and move them to a sheltered area, or is it a more sinister problem  :(

I'd always assumed it was the cold. Mine are about 2ft high just now and out of the 12, 11 are totally healthy but one right in the middle got some black leaves so I nipped them off, but the plant seems to be sort of dead now.

och well, I live and learn! The whole gardening thing is completely new to me so it's all trial and error - and when things do work it's thrilling  :D

I vet yours will be fine - the black leaves looked bogging anyway!

Probably wind burn, just make sure they are well sheltered from any winds, think of it like standing stark ****** naked and watch your tips go black  in a frosty wind
