My chicken coop and run
« on: August 24, 2010, 12:13 »
I thought I would share my completed coop and run now that it is finished with chooks installed.

Full details of the coop can be found here
http://chat.allotment-garden.org/index.php?topic=56419.msg665628#msg665628

Here is a pic of the coop and run

.

The run is 2.2 metres long, 1.2 metres wide and 1 metre high. There is 60cms of covered space under the coop as well.
All but the last 10" of roof hinges to make it easier for me to get in a clean when necessary.  There is a large hinged door at the front as well. The two side doors are to allow daytime access to two separate grassed areas. One for winter and one for summer. I have yet to build the fences for this and I think I will need to trim some flight feathers before I let them loose as well.

The chooks are finding their way into the coop at night without any encouragement from me although I have yet to see how they do it - fly or walk.

cheers

Andy

I am so very pleased to see that you used good heavy gauge wire and I love that cement brick in front of the door.  Lovely piece of kit!
When I die I will slide in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand and chocolate in the other, screaming, "Whooo hooo!  What a ride!" as life is to be enjoyed to the fullest!
