Many on here recommend live maggots to clear sour crop :)

Yes they eat the maggots and some are still alive and hopefully eat through any blockage.  You will be able to get them from fishing suppliers.

Well Laya (my children named the chickens with chicken pun names!) has been to visit the vet.  She didn't think it was sour crop as the contents of what is in there doesn't smell sour (could this be because I have been giving her some live yoghurt to eat?).  She wasn't able to get any more out of the crop than I did although she does agree it is very full but doesn't feel it is impacted. She has given her some anti-inflamatories and antibiotics.    She just says if she doesn't seem any better on Monday to take her back.  She mentioned egg peritonitis (the symptoms don't really fit I don't think) but I'm hoping that is not what it is.  La, la, la, can' hear.... :(

Lets hope the medication works.  Did the vet advise on an egg withdrawal period just in case Laya starts laying again soon?

Yes, she did, thank you.  One week of not eating the eggs with the particular drug she gave.
