Title: Hanging a five bar field gate!
Post by: Missie on May 12, 2010, 22:54
Hi,me again!

We have a field gate to put up,it is softwood and 5 bar with the shepherd brace-I think it is called this.

Hubby has put one post in,however,I know it may seem silly but we have the furniture, one pin which is knocked in and the other is adjustable.the top bolt measures 20mm in diameter and a square section afterwards of 22-23mm.

Does hubby use the 20mm drill and then tap the square part of the bolt in,or do you make the hole the same size as the entire bolt including square section?

Make the hole tight as you don't want the hanger to move around
