Am hoping to force some mature rhubarb crowns in situ. I have never tried this before but inherited a large mature patch of rhubarb in the summer. I tidied this up and split some crowns etc. I have some old chimney pots to upt on them topped with roof tiles. The question is am i too late? Most of the books suggest jan/feb is a good time. Any tips appreciated, thanks

Please make sure the rhubarb is mature enough to withstand forcing - it uses up a lot of energy and may not recover afterwards.  If you have several, then by all means try it with one.  Ideally Jan/Feb, but if the leaf buds have not unfurled yet then I would have thought this would be okay.

Thanks for the tip about the chimney pots - I have 4 littering my patio and I've been debating what to do with them, such as use them as plant pots etc.  I never thought of using it to force stuff (rhubarb, chicory etc!)  Great idea!
