Massive is very subjective, in relation to your expections & the variety you are growing.

If they are still growing, I'd take any futher fruit off to maximise their size.

I never bother resting them on anything, they have quite tough hides, but if you're concerned, then a piece of slate or similar would be OK.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

We are growing Atlantic Giant in preparation for the local hort and prod competition in a few weeks time. I can't really tell you how big they are, but I would struggle to get my arms around them!

We have watered and then some, and fed them chicken manure pellets. The pellects cam about when I discovered that a rival pumpkin grower had planted his on the patch where his old chicken run had been - it sort of made sense.

Check older threads as I'm sure there is a mention of feeding them cheap beer!

Not an expert, but as far as I know, feed is the key (with water, of course!) and this year I followed an old tip and planted on top of my compost heap, and he's coming on nicely, a bit bigger than a basketball so far, prob make spacehopper (remember those, older viewers??!) size if the frosts aren't too early.

Its gonna get it at Haloween anyway if the kids have any say...
