Wing issue
« on: May 24, 2010, 17:42 »
Hi,

One of my girls is holding her wing oddly, it kind of droops a little. She flaps ok and lets us stretch it out and does not seem to be in any discomfort but it is obvious when you look at her that it sits differently to her other one. I was wondering if anyone has experienced this
and may know what it is. We will take her to the vets but if we can avoid the consultants fee then all the better.
Any advice would be appreciated

How old is she?  Does she seem to be unbalanced at all?

as carolbriar says is she unbalanced, if she has a problem with her feet or legs she could be using it to balance herself. So you will need to take a good luck at her.

Hi,
Thanks for responding, she is 20 weeks and seems perfectly happy in herself.  She jumps up and down from her perches and pretty much anything else she can reach. We have 2 sons aged 6 & 8 so they may have manhandled her but they say not (of course). This has only shown itself yesterday and I don't recall her getting into any bother over the weekend that may have caused it.

keep a check on her incase it is dislocated and also keep a close eye on her feet.

Does she have any problem moving or holding her legs or neck ?

Has she lost any weight ?

Do her eyes look OK ?
Can she see well?
Are the Irises grey or the pupil irregular ?

Have a look at the skin around her feathers is it rough or raised ?

Everything else seems to be ok, the droop is only slight but obvious when she is face on, its not dragging on the floor or anything like that.
I think a trip to the vet is on the cards.

How old is she?
How long has her wing been drooping for?
All lives are precious.
