Hi,I need to move a small Acer its been in the ground for 3 years and is 4 ft tall. When would be the best time to move it, and any do and don't recommendations would be gratefully received.Cheers.

I successfully moved my acer twice before finding a spot it liked (part shade and sheltered from the prevailing winds.)
Best moved when it's lost its leaves and is dormant - personally I'd go for in a couple of weeks time to give the roots a chance to settle in before winter sets in.
Current thinking seems to be to not fill the planting hole with much in the way of compost or manure, which can encourage the roots to stay where they are rather than spreading deeper and wider.

Thanks JAY,scorching is the main reason for the move so a more sheltered spot will be its new home. Thanks again for the tips.

I’d agree with Jay(although mine still have loads of leaves at the moment) id also get some of that microrisal (spelling?) & put that on
