Sweet Peas
« on: April 17, 2008, 20:25 »
Hi my sweet peas are getting quite big now for their pots and I wondered if it was too early to plant them out or not? If I planted them at the allotment and we had a frost would I need to protect them or would it be better just potting them up in larger pots for another month?
40 hens, 8 cockerels, 3 dogs, 2 rabbits, 8 chinchillas, 2 teenage daughters and O/H

I don't know Yorkshire weather, but if you're still getting harder frosts, you'll want to pot them into larger ones for now. If it's only light frosts, you could put them out with fleece as they're not that hardy just yet.

I've also put mine out as they were getting a bit leggy, and they are doing fine. :D

Best to go with your gut feeling on the frosts, chicken soup. I'm sure it was gardeners who came up with the saying - better safe than sorry.
