Ross Cobbs were originally for broiler houses, but they are advertised more now as being suitable for free range, the other ones are Sasso's.  We had Sasso's when we first came here, but they didn't reach a good weight.

Simon who we get our Hubbards from said that Ross's were having trouble with some of their breeding flocks, and not getting enough chicks, and even the Hubbards don't seem to come up as big as they used to.

The best ones we had from Simon were the Mastergris, but Simon sold his breeding stock to Cluckingnuts, one of our members who is in North Wales.  But he only sends out hatching eggs, I don't think he is big enough to deliver day olds, and its a long drive from here to North Wales!!!

So at the moment, Brian will stick with the Hubbards.

We did get Beefy the Indian game cockerel last year to breed with our young Plymouth rocks, but Spana was saying and I've read this elsewhere, that the cross should be Plymouth rocks cockerels and Indian game hens, especially if the indian Game cockerel has short legs, which Beefy has!!!

Anyone want a short legged Indian Game Cockerel?
